Accrued receipts and open layers in the Valuation Report

QUESTION: How do the accrued receipts and open layers options impact on the Valuation Report?

ANSWER:

Accrued receipts: -

Accrued receipts existing as unposted vouchers in AP update the quantity on hand in Item Location, but not the Z type transaction in the Period Summary file. Therefore when saying No to accrued receipts, the system only reads the Z type transaction.
Accrued receipts update the Y type transaction in Period Summary ("accrued valuation"). When saying Yes to Accrued receipts, the system adds the Z and Y transaction types in INTXSM.

Open Layers: -

This field is only used if you select a valuation basis of Item Valuation. It indicates whether you want detail from the costing layers printed on the report.

If you leave the Include Open Layers checkbox blank the system divides the total of all the "Amount" fields by the total of all the "Quantity" fields of the Z type transactions in order to calculate the the Unit Cost. The Y type transactions do not correspond to realised cost layers. Therefore the Y type transaction is not taken into account. This is why running the valuation report without open layers for accrued receipts only shows a zero cost.
