Error 18

Several things should be checked if you encounter a Disk Full error on a Novell network:

· Make sure the disk isn't really full.

· Verify that the user who gets the error doesn't have restricted disk space access.

· If all users get the error, including supervisor equivalents, then access the directory where the file mentioned in the error message resides and type:

NDIR [filename.ext]

· The owner's name will show up among other information about the file. If that owner is no longer a valid network user, you must create a new, valid owner for the file. You can do this by having a valid user (preferably the supervisor) rename the file and then recopy it to it's proper name. For example:

REN ABC.XYZ ABC.TMP

COPY ABC.TMP ABC.XYZ

OR: Use the FILER option in Novell to rename the whole directory structure in Platinum and it's subdirectories to a supervisory ownership. DO NOT flag data files. Btrieve will do the flagging of the company data files. Flagging files have nothing to do with the Stat 18 error. Also users of Platinum MUST have ALL access to Platinum and all it's subdirectories.
