Record Buffer Too Short 1. This may occur because of conflicting versions being loaded. 2. This may occur if the user has installed a single program correction. 3. This most often occurs when the user accidentaly changes the file layout of a data file, usually with Xtrieve. To solve the above, follow the below procedures: 1. Make sure all of your diskettes have the same version, and reinstall the module that you are having trouble with. 2. Reinstall the module you are having trouble with from the golden master diskettes.
3. Either restore the file from a backup, or if the problem was created by someone using Xtrieve, follow the below procedures, we will use the APTRAN file as the example: In Xtrieve: 1. Go into VIEW 2. Select APTRAN 3. Select FIELD 4. Select ADD, YES 5. Hit Enter 6. Go to Translate 7. Select TO SDF 8. Hit Enter 9. Hit MAKE 10. Hit Enter 11. Give it a name ie. APTRAN1 12. Hit Enter 13. Escape out of Xtrieve, initialize the APTRAN file. 14. go back into Xtrieve 15. Repeat steps 2 through 6 16. Select From SDF 17. Hit Enter 18. Select APTRAN1
