This option causes the recovery utility to bypass the key path portion of the data file and go directly to the raw data. It then sequentially reads the data out of the Btrieve file into the temporary file in the order the data appears on the hard-disk. During the LOAD process, it PHYSICALLY rebuilds the Btrieve file in the order the records appear in the temporary file, which is the order the records appeared on the hard-disk, as it rebuilds the key path.
2. OPTIMIZE. If you select to OPTIMIZE the file size/performance, the system will prompt the user for the key path number to use to read the records out of the Btrieve file into the temporary file. Then, it PHYSICALLY rebuilds the Btrieve file in the order the records appear in the temporary file, which is the order of the key path selected, as it rebuilds the key paths. · What is the advantage of recovering a data file by a key path?
Maintains the order of the Order Entry Line Item file (OELIN) or Invoice Entry Line Item (ARLIN file during recovery. During the standard recovery, of a work order and/or invoice the sequential order of line items may be adjusted. This is a problem for those installations who RECOVER to relieve disk space after a purge but are also using the <F6> - Discount function, comments, or simply like the order the line items appear on the form. Recover any file that contains line items (if the file contains "LIN" in it's name) by key path number 0. This will recognize the files by the ORDER NO. or the TRAN NO. If you fail to issue a key path number, the data file will be reorganized in the order it is stored on the hard-disk, thus changing the order of the line items. |
